Pardon our dust as we build out this resource page for Grateful Dead-related shows, bands, venues, and vendors. First off, a huge thanks to Compass Rose for maintaining the ultimate Grateful Dead Tribute page, which covers all 50 states. For now, we’re just focused on half a state, the lower part of California.
Some of the most popular Dead Tribute acts in So Cal include Cubensis, Jerry’s Middle Finger, Grateful Shred, Wall of Sound, Easy Wind, Skeleton Crew, Rising Tide, JRAD, and Natural Dead.
Venues that host weekly or monthly Grateful Dead tributes include the Venice West with Grateful Brunch every Saturday, Old Towne Pub in Pasadena with LA Dead Night usually on Second Fridays, and The Barrel Tavern in Sherman Oaks with weekly Minglewood Mondaze. In San Diego, Winstonβs has been hosting the Electric Waste Band every Monday night since 1992, and Aquarius Bar & Grille has a whole bunch of Dead Jams all through the week.
Now that we’ve mentioned some bands and venues, it’s time for our show list. We’re working toward listing Shakedown vendors, and adding them to the shows that they will be attending, but this is a much bigger endeavor!
