San Luis Obispo offers a vibrant live music scene with venues catering to every taste and style. The historic Fremont Theater, an art deco landmark downtown, hosts national touring acts in its impressive 940-seat venue. For more intimate concerts in SLO, SLO Brew Rock provides both indoor and outdoor stages featuring live music experiences from local talent and regional favorites, along with craft beer and food. Shindig Cider throws the occasional jam sesh so keep an eye on their event calendar as well.
For those seeking open-air concerts, Mission Plaza hosts free summer concert series, and the nearby Avila Beach Golf Resort features larger outdoor concerts with ocean views. The Cal Poly Performing Arts Center brings classical, jazz, and world music performances to its professional venue, showcasing both student musicians and visiting artists. The Siren in Morro Bay pulls some great talent through their otherwise sleepy beach town.
Throughout the year, numerous coffee shops, wine bars, and restaurants throughout San Luis Obispo also feature live acoustic sets and jazz nights, contributing to the city’s rich musical tapestry. Check the calendars at Libertine Brewing Company and Frog & Peach Pub for more musical options in town, and pop into BA Start for some retro video games on the way. Also there’s Liquid Gravity Brewing who hosts local brass cover band Brass Mash on First Fridays.
