The Charities + The Cormorants & Sam Blasucci
Fri, August 28th, 2026 @ 8:30 pm – 11:30 pm
Cut from west coast cloth and formed in Los Angeles, The Charities deliver an analog sound with harmonies that hold up live and songwriting reminiscent of the greats from the ’60s and ’70s.
The band blends classic soul influences like Brenton Wood, The Delphonics, and Sunny and the Sunliners while giving a slight nod to modern R&B.
Often working alongside writer/producer Anthony Masino—the engineer behind a who’s who of modern soul artists including Bruno Mars and Thee Sacred Souls—the band continues to write and record standout tracks, from early catalog gems like “Angel Eyes” and “Bring Your Love” to more recent releases through Colemine Records including “Fatal Attraction” and “It’s Not Our Time.”
The Cormorants are the brainchild of Sam Blasucci, a singer-songwriter and musician rooted in the rich musical landscape of Los Angeles. Drawing from a deep well of folk, psych, and country-tinged rock, the project channels the sun-faded warmth and wistful storytelling of the Laurel Canyon tradition while carving out its own distinctive voice. Blasucci’s songwriting carries an unhurried intimacy, pairing evocative lyrics with lush arrangements that feel both timeless and quietly adventurous.
With a rotating cast of collaborators and a live show that trades polish for genuine feeling, The Cormorants have built a loyal following among listeners drawn to music that rewards close attention. Blasucci’s ability to move between tender, stripped-back moments and fuller, more expansive sonic textures gives the project a dynamic range that keeps audiences locked in from start to finish—making them a natural complement to the soulful energy of The Charities on any shared bill.
