Led by Aaron Lind, this trio brings a blend of blues, soul, and jazz that will have you on your feet. Each member promises exciting improvisations, transporting you to the heyday of 1960s organ trio magic, while seamlessly incorporating the best of present-day sounds.

Get ready to groove to a selection of tunes that pay homage to the classics and celebrate the contemporary essence of the organ trio experience.

Aaron Lind is a recent addition to the San Diego music community, relocating from his longtime and beloved home of New Orleans in 2020. He holds a Masters Degree in Jazz Studies from the University of New Orleans, and he continues to further his education with jazz luminary Jonathan Kreisberg and local classical guitar legend Fred Benedetti. Aaron is a professor at Grossmont Community College, the jazz band director at Coronado School of Arts, and also runs a private teaching studio. He maintains a busy gigging schedule, currently performing with his organ trio, Voices of Our City Choir, monthly duo gigs with singers Leonard Patton and Whitney Shay, and solo jazz and classical guitar concerts around San Diego.

Lind is a highly skilled classical and jazz guitarist who delivers memorable performances that are full of passion, energy and great music. Effortlessly combining history and tradition with contemporary style and modern flair, Aaron brings a timeless and polished musical environment with classical guitar masterpieces from Tarrega, Barrios, Sor, and a joyful and energetic experience with solo, trio, or quartet jazz ensembles that call back Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, and other great players from the jazz tradition. Aaron is a highly accomplished, technically proficient guitar professional who can bring an emotionally rich, luxurious ambiance to private events, and an upbeat and energetic experience from the stage with his band.

Aaron’s performing experience includes appearances at Notre Dame Jazz Fest, Gene Harris Jazz Fest with Eric Marienthal, New Orleans Jazz Fest, French Quarter Fest, Bayou Boogaloo, and a variety of music festivals across the US, as well as appearances at notable nightclubs including House of Blues, Tipitina’s, Blue Nile, Lion’s Den NYC, and more. In more intimate settings, Aaron has performed for countless weddings and private parties around New Orleans. Aaron performed for the San Diego Chamber of Commerce at their 2022 Small Business Awards gathering.

Free concerts at noon every Monday year-round . . . no wonder the Mini-Concerts are the longest-running and one of the most popular classical music series at the library! This series was founded by Glenna Hazleton in 1970 at the Athenaeum, and has been going strong ever since. The concerts feature both local and touring musicians, prize-winning students, university music faculty members, local chamber ensembles. . . and the repertoire also includes jazz, folk, and world music. There are no reservations, no tickets . . . just line up at the side door of the Athenaeum before noon. (Donations are always welcome!) Mini-Concerts take place every Monday at noon and last about an hour.

The concerts will be in person at the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library. There are no physical tickets for these events. Doors open at 11:40 a.m. Last entry is at 12:10 p.m. or once capacity is reached. Seating is first-come; first-served. Reservations are not necessary, but seating is limited.
